For the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) Office of Compliance, ZAI reviews retailer compliance check inspection data for violations of the Tobacco Control Act. ZAI drafts Review Memos documenting inspection findings and violation codes (if any). If violations are observed, ZAI drafts Warning Letters, Civil Money Penalty Notices, and No Tobacco Sales Orders for FDA's legal review and approval. ZAI also performs routine monitoring and surveillance of regulated tobacco product labeling and reviews of marketing, sales, promotions, and advertising activities of tobacco products on the Internet. ZAI utilizes several different web crawlers and web-crawler technologies to review websites for compliance with tobacco regulations. ZAI collects website data and reviews/codes ~7,500 websites per quarter that sell or advertise regulated tobacco products to U.S. customers.
